The United States of America plans to provide Ukraine in mid-2023 with Vampire systems that can be used against drones, Interfax-Ukraine reports citing a comment by Pentagon spokesman Pat Ryder to Defense News.
"In reference to the Vampires, we do expect a contract award within the next few months, and right now we’re anticipating delivery to be in mid-2023," he said.
Defense News reports that on 24 August, the Pentagon announced plans to supply Ukraine with these systems, but the deal has not yet been approved.
The Vampire is a laser-guided missile launcher. It can be easily mounted on the back of a civilian truck. The missiles can be used against ground and air targets, including UAVs.
