Russian attacks on the energy system of Ukraine can theoretically cause a blackout, but in practice it is unlikely, Volodymyr Kudrytskyy, board chairman of the Ukrenergo energy company, has told the telethon, UNIAN reports.

He noted that Russia's attack potential is decreasing.

"Theoretically it can threaten, in practice I do not see such a danger now. I believe that we have already passed the worst with these missile attacks, I really hope so. The dynamics of these attacks and the effect of them show that the Russian potential is further decreasing," Kudrytskyy said.

Ukrainian power engineers have learned to prepare for possible attacks, he argued. According to Kudrytskyy, "the Russian military can demonstrate little on the battlefield with the Ukrainian energy system".

"It seems to me that this attack potential will be increasingly exhausted. I am sure that the Russians, who are now losing on the conventional front, will also lose on the energy front," he concluded.
