President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has reacted to today's massive Russian missile attack, saying it is not the result of the year, but the result of the fate of Russia.
"31 December... Today, this Russian missile attack is not the result of the year, no matter how much the terrorists want it. This is the result of the fate of Russia. The terrorist state will not be redeemed. And those who order such strikes and those who carry them out will not be pardoned. To put it mildly. Several waves of missile strikes on New Year's Eve. Missiles against the people. Directly against the people. It was done by non-humans, and non-humans will lose. We all know it. The terrorists will not change this," Zelenskyy said in a video address.
He also addressed the Russians in Russian. He said that the Russian leader wants to show that he has the military behind him, that he is ahead. Zelenskyy was referring to Putin's New Year video address where he was speaking with people in uniforms standing in the background.
"But he is just hiding. He is hiding behind the military, behind missiles, behind the walls of his residences and palaces. He is hiding behind you, and he is burning your country and your future. No-one will forgive you for terror. No-one in the world will forgive you. Ukraine will not forgive," Zelenskyy said.
The president also thanked everyone who defends Ukraine.
