On 1 January, Russia conducted 35 air strikes, including with Shahed-136 drones, all of them were shot down by the Ukrainian Defence Forces, on the 312th day of the Russian large-scale invasion. Russian troops also fired 16 times from multiple rocket launchers, including at a children's hospital in Kherson, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has said.
"The danger of air and missile strikes remains throughout Ukraine. Do not ignore air raid warnings," the General Staff stressed.
Russian troops, which lost 760 soldiers yesterday alone, continues to attempt offensive actions in the Bakhmut sector and is trying to improve the tactical position of its troops in the Kupyansk, Lyman and Avdiyivka sectors. They are on the defensive in the Novopavlivka and Zaporizhzhya sectors and regrouping in the Kherson sector.
To destabilise the humanitarian situation in occupied territories of Kherson Region and to force the local population to the so-called "voluntary evacuation", Russian troops are firing mortars on Oleshky, Hola Prystan, Plavni, as well as summer cottages between the mentioned settlements.
Mobilisation measures continue in occupied Crimea. Military commissariats have started checking the lists of persons who have not yet participated in the large-scale invasion of Ukraine and are subject to mobilisation in 2023.
Russian troops continue to use civilian institutions for treatment of their wounded. In the city of Pervomaysk, Alchevsk District, Luhansk Region, in the premises of a local school, they have deployed a "field hospital" and are treating about 100 servicemen. In addition, more than 150 wounded mercenaries of the Wagner PMC are being treated in a local maternity hospital, equipped as a military hospital.
Ukrainian aviation carried out 13 strikes on Russian positions, while missile and artillery units hit two clusters of Russian manpower and military equipment.
