Ukrainian air defence shoots down 47 of 55 Russian missiles – Zaluzhnyy

In addition, three out of four X-59 guided missiles failed to reach their targets.

During a massive missile strike on 26 January, Ukrainian air defence shot down 47 of 55 Russian missiles, said Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Valeriy Zaluzhnyy.

"Today, the Russian terrorist state launched a massive missile attack on the territory of Ukraine. The enemy launched 55 air- and sea-launched missiles (X-101, X-555, X-47 Kinzhal, Kalibr, X-59) from Tu-95, Su-35, MiG-31K aircraft and ships from the Black Sea. The air defenсe forces and means of the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed 47 cruise missiles, 20 of them over the capital. In addition, three out of four X-59 guided missiles did not reach their targets," Zaluzhny wrote.

He noted that the Russians' goal remains the same: mental pressure on Ukrainians and the destruction of critical infrastructure.

Wreckage of Russian missiles was found in several districts of Kyiv Region. People were not injured. However, one of the missiles hit a power facility.

In Kyiv, a man was killed and two other people were injured as a result of the fall of missile fragments.

On the morning of 26 January, an air alert was declared throughout Ukraine. The air defence system was activated in Kyiv, Odesa, Dnipro, Zhytomyr, and Vinnytsya regions.
