President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen has said that the 10th package of sanctions against Russia will amount to 10bn euros.

She announced this at a press conference following the EU-Ukraine summit in Kyiv on 3 February.

According to the head of the European Commission, Russia and Russian society "are already paying a high price because of the sanctions imposed".

"The 10th package of sanctions is being prepared, we intend to roll it out by 24 February. It will amount to about 10bn euros," von der Leyen said.

Europe will focus on technologies that should not be used by the Russian military machine.

"In other words, we are taking a deeper look at components found in drones, for example, to make sure that they are not available to Russia," she added.
