President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has submitted a motion to the Ukrainian parliament to appoint Vasyl Malyuk as head of the Security Service of Ukraine.
The draft resolution has now been sent to the relevant committee for consideration.
Malyuk has been acting chief of the SBU since 18 July 2022. Since March last year, he has been Ivan Bakanov's first deputy. The day before, on 17 July, Bakanov was removed from office.
Yesterday, the deputy head of the committee on national security, defence and intelligence, Maryana Bezuhla, said that the acting heads of the SBU and the Interior Ministry would apply for full-time positions.
