President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has enacted National Security and Defence Council sanctions against 200 people associated with the Russian Federation, the presidential office has said.
Zelensky signed the corresponding decree on 12 February. Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council Oleksiy Danilov is in charge of overseeing the implementation of the NSDC decision. In addition, the NSDC, the Security Service of Ukraine, and the Cabinet of Ministers were instructed to monitor the effectiveness of personal sanctions, and the Foreign Ministry was instructed to inform the competent authorities of the EU and the United States accordingly.
Thus, the president imposed sanctions against 199 Russian citizens and one Ukrainian, Yuriy Chernichuk, who was "appointed" by the Russian occupying authorities as the new "director" of the Zaporizhzhya NPP.
A full package of personal sanctions for a period of 50 years is being introduced against the individuals on the list. The decree comes into force today.
