Three companies of drones have already been formed to enhance the capabilities of the Ukrainian military on the battlefield, Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhaylo Fedorov has said on Telegram.
"The first three strike companies of UAVs are ready for combat. Together with our partners, we have fully equipped them. We have delivered pickups, attack copters and Starlinks. All the drones are made in Ukraine. The equipment for the army's drone strike companies was purchased by private donors," the minister said.
The drones are expected to carry out reconnaissance and strike missions. They will be used to adjust artillery fire, help soldiers to be as effective as possible during urban warfare and save lives. Pickup trucks will be used for raids by mobile groups behind enemy lines, delivery of cargo and evacuation of the wounded.
A Project Coordination Headquarters has been established to facilitate the development of drone strike companies. The HQ includes the Ministry of Digital Transformation, the Ministry of Defence, the General Staff of the Armed Forces, and the State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection.
