Russian forces fired missiles at Kharkiv from abroad, the head of the Kharkiv regional military administration, Oleh Synyehubov, has said.
"At least six hits were recorded, preliminary S-300," he added.
Synyehubov noted that the shelling was done from the direction of Belgorod.
Information about the victims and damage is currently being clarified.
He called on residents not to leave their shelters until the alarm is off.
