The Ukrainian military continues its offensive in the eastern and southern directions, the spokesman for the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Andriy Kovalyov, has said, according to the Military Media Centre.
The Defence Forces continue to conduct offensive operations in the Bakhmut, Melitopol and Berdyansk sectors.
In the Bakhmut sector, Ukrainian troops continue to advance south of the city of Bakhmut, consolidating the captured positions.
"The enemy conducted unsuccessful offensives in the area of Novokalynove, Avdiyivka, Syeverne, Maryinka, Novomykhaylivka and Staromayorske. The enemy suffered significant losses in personnel, weapons and equipment," he said.
Earlier, Deputy Defence Minister Hanna Malyar said that the eastern front remains the epicentre of hostilities for the Russians. Russia believes that by pressing in the east, it will be able to turn the tide on the frontline.
