On the eve of Rosh Hashanah (Jewish New Year), the Cherkasy regional military administration has suggested that Hasidim should refrain from visiting Uman, where the tomb of Rabbi Nachman (Bratslav) is located.

"Rosh Hashanah is in a month. We recommend that pilgrims refrain from visiting Uman as much as possible in view of the war, regular massive shelling of our country and possible provocations by Russia," the head of the Cherkasy regional military administration, Ihor Taburets, said on Telegram.

According to Taburets, like last year, some believers will still decide to come, so the authorities are taking the necessary measures to enhance the safety of guests and locals.

"Today, a special commission meeting was held on this issue with the participation of the deputy chief of mission at the Israeli embassy in Ukraine, Ms Liron Finkelstein. First of all, we are coordinating the work on security measures. They will be strengthened, just like last year. We are working on other areas, based on the experience of previous celebrations. We are talking about medical care, catering, utilities, anti-epidemic measures, etc. The safety of local residents and visitors remains the key priority," he said.
