On 9 August, the Ukrainian parliament has adopted an appeal to foreign parliaments and governments, international organisations and parliamentary assemblies regarding Russia's intent to hold illegal elections in temporarily occupied parts of Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhya and Kherson regions of Ukraine.
The resolution was supported by 278 MPs, according to an LB.ua correspondent.
The MPs expect the appeal "to contribute to the formation of a consolidated position of the international community in terms of non-recognition, if held, of the legitimacy of any 'elections' in the temporarily occupied parts of the territory of Ukraine and of any elected body of the Russian Federation, elections to which will be held in the temporarily occupied parts of the territory of Ukraine or which, as a result of such 'elections', will include representatives of the occupying administrations of the Russian Federation in the temporarily occupied parts of the territory of Ukraine".
The occupying authorities have scheduled illegal elections in Kherson Region for 8-10 September. Residents of the occupied territories are urged not to participate in this travesty.
