Kyiv's Pecherskyy district court has selected a measure of pre-trial restraint with regard to MP Oleksandr Dubinskyy (Servant of the People), who is suspected of forgery of documents for travelling abroad, in the form of own recognizance. He will also have to wear an electronic bracelet until 8 October, Suspilne has reported.

The MP's lawyer requested that the hearing be postponed because parliament was holding a plenary session and three other MPs were in the courtroom. Dubinskyy also asked the court to postpone the hearing.

"The [parliament] sessions are important now, they take place every five weeks, so I ask you to grant the request," Dubinskyy said.

The prosecutor objected because the violation Dubinskyy is suspected of is within the scope of the MP's activities.

"I don't understand why the MPs are here and not in the session hall. MPs have no influence on the trial," the prosecutor said.

The judge refused to postpone the hearing.

On 9 August, Dubinskyy was served with a notice of suspicion of forgery. He used the documents in question to travel abroad, allegedly under the pretext of accompanying his father for medical treatment.

Dubinskyy's foreign travel during martial law made news thanks to a post by activist and soldier Anton Shvets. He found out that Dubinskyy had received permission from the Ministry of Health to travel abroad, ostensibly to accompany his father to medical treatment.
