If Ukraine surrenders, it will mean a brutal Russian occupation, said NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg at a joint press conference with Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv on 28 September.
"The stronger Ukraine becomes, the closer we will come to ending Russian aggression. Russia can disarm and end the war today. Ukraine has no such option. If Ukraine surrenders, it will not be peace. It will mean a brutal Russian occupation. Peace in this case will not be peace at all," Stoltenberg said.
The Alliance Secretary General emphasised that Ukraine needs "sustainable peace". He added that the future of our country is in NATO and "we are working to prepare this future.”
