The EU reform cannot be used as a tool to slow down Ukraine's accession to the EU, Ukraine's Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has said following the meeting of the EU foreign ministers.

"It seems to me that the European Union understands that the EU reform cannot be endless, that it must have a meaningful timeframe. Our signal to the European Union is that under no circumstances should the EU reform be used as a tool to slow down the process of gaining EU membership by Ukraine and other candidate countries that want to do so," he said.

According to Kuleba, Ukraine does not currently feel that this is happening and is closely following the proposals being discussed at the EU level.

"I think we will feel very quickly if the EU reform is used as an excuse to slow down integration. We don't feel it now. But this is a very complicated process. We are closely following the proposals that are being discussed at the European Union level, and we are presenting our vision," Kuleba added.

A meeting of EU foreign ministers has started in Kyiv today. This is the first time such a meeting has been held outside the bloc.

The European Commission may publish a report on Ukraine's progress in implementing the recommendations for EU candidates on 31 October. The EU Ambassador to Ukraine, Katarina Mathernova, believes that the realistic date for Ukraine's accession to the EU is 2030.Ep
