Hurricane-force winds hit Kyiv on 28 October, with falling branches and trees injuring people and damaging cars. Two people were killed, the city authorities and the State Emergency Service said.

"Several cases of people being injured in the city due to the bad weather have been recorded so far. A tree fell on a person in Shevchenkivskyy district. The medics tried to resuscitate the man, but he died from severe injuries. A woman also suffered a spinal injury due to falling branches. The victim was taken to hospital," the city authorities said.

A deputy head of the presidential office, Oleksiy Kuleba, said that one more person died in the region.

In total, more than 300,000 consumers in 14 regions of Ukraine lost electricity supply. Most of them are in Khmelnytskyy Region, where 400 settlements were affected.

The Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Centre warned that wind gusts may reach 25-28 m/s (hazard level II) on 28 October.
