The outbreak of hepatitis A in Vinnytsya Region is a reason for Kyiv residents to mind their infectious safety, Valentyna Ginzburg, Director of the Health Department of the Kyiv city state administration, has said.

Ginzburg said that the risk of hepatitis A in Kyiv is primarily related to the migration of people between Kyiv and Vinnytsya regions. Since the source of infection is a sick person who excretes the pathogen, Kyiv is in a potentially dangerous area.

Th Ministry of Health announced the outbreak of hepatitis A in Vinnytsya Region a week ago. Then 60 people were hospitalised, including 14 children.

Currently, anti-epidemic measures are being stepped up in the region. In particular, control over the cleaning and disinfection of public transport has been strengthened. Fairs and small farmers' markets have been temporarily banned.
