During a massive Russian air attack on Ukraine, air defence forces shot down 87 missiles and 27 attack drones. This was reported by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valeriy Zaluzhnyy.
"Critical infrastructure, industrial and military facilities were attacked. Unfortunately, there are casualties.
The Air Force called this the most massive air attack ever. Air defence systems shot down 114 of 158 targets.
"At first, the occupiers traditionally attacked with Shaheds from the north and southeast, followed by a move to the west. A total of 36 Shahed-136/131 strike UAVs were spotted. At around 3.00, the enemy took strategic aircraft into the air - Tu-95MS bombers. In total, 18 aircraft reached the launch line at around 6.00 am and launched at least 90 X-101/X-555/X-55 air-launched cruise missiles," said the Chief of Staff.
At around 05.00, the Russians used Tu-22M3 long-range bombers to launch eight X-22/X-32 cruise missiles from Kursk Region in the direction of the northern and central regions.
At the same time, the occupiers attacked Kharkiv with S-300 anti-aircraft guided missiles. In total, the enemy fired at least 14 ballistic missiles - S-300/S-400/Iskander-M - from the occupied Crimea, Kursk and Belgorod regions of Russia.
At 6.30 a.m., five MiG-31K fighter jets were observed taking off and launching five X-47M2 Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles from Astrakhan region.
In addition, four X-31P and one X-59 anti-aircraft missiles were fired from Su-35 tactical aircraft.
According to preliminary results, the enemy used 158 air attack weapons against Ukraine last night: missiles of various types and strike UAVs.
The forces and means of the Air Force, in cooperation with the units of the Ukrainian Defence Forces, were destroyed:
- 27 Shahed-136/131 attack UAVs
- 87 X-101/X-555/X-55 cruise missiles.
According to the Minister of Internal Affairs, at least 12 people were killed and 76 wounded.
