The Russian army attacked Kharkiv in the morning of 2 January. There were several hits in the centre of Kharkiv, in residential areas.
As of 9:26 a.m., the number of wounded exceeded 40. One woman was killed, said Oleh Synyehubov, head of the RMA.
"41 people were injured as a result of the occupiers' morning attack on Kharkiv," he said.
Earlier it was reported that more than 20 people were wounded and one person was killed.
Around 07:30, the occupiers struck the central part of Kharkiv, in particular in the Shevchenkivskyy district. The type of missiles is being established, said Oleh Synyehubov, head of the RMA.
"High-rise residential buildings, outbuildings, other civilian infrastructure were damaged, and cars are on fire," he said.
The occupiers struck at least four times in Kharkiv. In particular, in the central part of the city.
There is damage to apartment blocks and cars. Fires broke out. According to preliminary data, there were no casualties.
Around 7:44 a.m., Mayor Ihor Terekhov and the head of the Regional Military Administration Oleg Synyehubov reported the explosions in Kharkiv.
"The occupiers have struck at Kharkiv. Do not leave the shelters until the air raid warning is cancelled!" called Synyehubov.
At 7:37 a.m., the Air Force reported that there was another ballistic attack in the direction of Kharkiv.
"Kharkiv is under a massive missile attack. It is very dangerous to be outside the shelter now," Terekhov wrote.
