Naval drones used by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) are not only capable of carrying explosives, but are also equipped with a flamethrower system, according to the UP article about Ukraine's recapture of the Black Sea.

The Sea Baby drone not only carries 850 kg of charge, but also has a flamethrower system. That is, it is capable of shooting at the enemy.

According to UP, the video shows a marine drone opening fire on boats that were chasing it and trying to destroy it.

The second is Mamay, a kamikaze drone that can deliver 450 kg of explosives anywhere in the Black Sea.

"We want to knock out all the missile launchers from the Ukrainian Black Sea. Then we will turn our attention to submarines," said SBU Head Vasyl Malyuk.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has set a task: to make sure that Ukraine dominates the Black Sea. For the SBU, this area is one of its priorities.

Malyuk noted that the Russians have already withdrawn all major ships from Crimea, but this will not help them.

SBU maritime drones

  • In the summer of 2023, it became known that the Defence Forces attacked the Kerch (Crimea) Bridge using a Sea Baby surface drone. The drone is the result of a long development process, and work on it began immediately after the start of the full-scale Russian attack.
  • In December, the SBU announced its second Mamay UAV. The Mamay is currently the fastest object in the Black Sea and can reach speeds of up to 110 km/h.
