On the night of 2 January, the Russian army repeated a massive attack using various types of air power, as it did a few days ago - on 29 December 2023. The main target of the attack was Kyiv.
The enemy attacked civilian and critical infrastructure, industrial and military facilities. It launched 35 Shaheds and about 99 missiles, said the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valeriy Zaluzhnyy.
All 35 Shahed-136/131 strike UAVs were destroyed. After that, in the morning, Russia used strategic aviation - Tu-95MS bombers. 16 aircraft reached the launch line at around 6.00 a.m. and launched at least 70 X-101/X-555/X-55 air-launched cruise missiles.
"Starting at 07.30, ten X-47M2 Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles were launched from MiG-31K fighters," Zaluzhnyy said.
The enemy also attacked from the sea with three Kalibr cruise missiles, and from the north with 12 missiles flying along the Iskander-M/S-300/S-400 ballistic trajectory.
Four Kh-31P anti-radar missiles were used from Su-35 tactical aircraft.
According to preliminary results, the enemy used 99 air attack weapons - missiles of various types.
A total of 72 air targets were destroyed:
- 10 out of 10 Kh-47M2 Kinzhal aerial ballistic missiles
- 59 out of 70 Kh-101/Kh-555/Kh-55 cruise missiles
- 3 out of 3 Kalibr cruise missiles
Zaluzhnyy thanked the defenders for their work.
