Tonight and this morning, Russia launched another massive missile attack on Kyiv. This is the second attack in a row involving the use of a large arsenal of air weapons.

According to the Kyiv City Military Administration, the air raid lasted almost 6 hours in total.

First, the enemy launched about a dozen Shahed type drones at the capital of Ukraine. After that, more than a dozen Tu-95MS strategic bombers launched Kh-101/Kh-555X-55 cruise missiles in groups and waves. At the same time as the missiles were approaching Kyiv, more than 10 Mig-31K aircraft launched Kh-47M2 Kinzhal air-to-air missiles at the capital.

"The air defence forces and means hit all Shahed UAVs and more than 60 Kh-101/Kh-555X-55 missiles and a dozen Kh-47M2 Kinzhal missiles (the type and number will be counted by the Air Force)," the KCMA said.

"Unfortunately, this massive missile attack in the capital resulted in the destruction of residential buildings and damage to infrastructure. There are casualties.

"The consequences are particularly terrible in the Solomenskyy district. High-rise residential buildings caught fire there. The fire trapped people on the floors. The State Emergency Service personnel were unblocking and evacuating people," the statement said.

After 10 o'clock, it became known that one of the wounded had died. The elderly woman, who was injured in a house in Solomenskyy district, died in an ambulance. Another 27 people were hospitalised.

Consequences of the missile attack in other districts:

  • a supermarket in Desnyanskyy district is on fire;
  • in Darnytskyy district, non-residential premises were damaged;
  • in the Holosiyivskyy district, debris fell in an open area;
  • in the Pecherskyy district - on the roof of a 9-storey residential building; another multi-storey building and a private house;
  • in Obolonskyy district - a residential building caught fire, the debris fell on the territory of non-residential buildings and warehouses;
  • in Svyatoshynskyy district - on non-residential buildings;
  • in Podilskyy district, a fire broke out on the territory of a market; a gas pipe and water supply lines were damaged and about 6 cars caught fire; and the debris fell on non-residential buildings. There is also a possibility of a residential building catching fire. The information is being verified;
  • Shevchenkivskyy district - debris fell on an open area.
