Warsaw and American allies have deployed two pairs of F-16 fighters into the skies to ensure the security of airspace amidst a heavy rocket barrage on Ukraine by Russian forces. This was reported by the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces on the X.
It is noted that there is currently "intense activity of Russian long-range aviation, associated with striking targets on the territory of Ukraine."
"To ensure the safety of Polish airspace, two pairs of F-16 fighters and an allied tanker were engaged. At approximately 6:45 (Kyiv time), the American pair, stationed at the Lask airbase, took off, and around 7:15, the Polish pair departed from the Krzesiny airbase," the statement reads.
