The Navy is planning a large-scale operation to demine the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov, which is expected to take four to five months. The demining of trade routes can take up to six months, Dmytro Pletenchuk, spokesman for the Ukrainian Navy, has told the news telethon.

"We are planning an operation to clear the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov of mines. A headquarters has been set up, and the operation itself is being planned. Based on the results of its planning, we can say that the demining of the sea communication routes will take three to five months," Pletenchuk said.

The demining operation in the two seas could last for several years, as even now the Navy is finding weapons from World Wars One and Two.

According to the spokesperson, special drones are used to clear the sea.

"We are in constant dialogue with our foreign partners on this issue and work in this area is ongoing - as is training, as is gaining experience, as is the process itself," he pointed out.
