The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Poland has announced that the Polish-Ukrainian border will not be opened for Ukrainian goods. The export ban will be unlimited. This was stated by the Minister of Agriculture of Poland Czeslaw Sekerski, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Poland reported on X.
"The borders will not open, the embargo on Ukrainian products is unlimited until it is lifted," the minister said.
Sekerski stressed the importance of negotiations with the protesting farmers to find the best solutions. The minister supports the protesters' demands, but they should be adapted to the current legislation in Poland, including EU legislation.
On 4 January, in the morning, Polish farmers resumed blocking the Shehyni-Medyka border crossing, demanding a corn subsidy or keeping the agricultural tax at the level of last year. Earlier, Sekerski said that the embargo on Ukrainian grain would remain in place until the EU creates new rules for imports of Ukrainian grain.
