EU High Representative Josep Borrell has said that the European Union expects to provide Ukraine with 1,155,000 artillery shells by the end of the year due to the growing capacity of the defence industry of its member states.
He said this during a joint briefing with Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal in Kyiv, Ukrinform reports.
"The EU defence industry continues to grow: we can already note that its capacity has increased by 40%. I can also give a fairly specific figure for ammunition (for Ukraine - ed.): by the end of this year, we expect to have 1,155,000," Borrell said.
Addressing Prime Minister Shmyhal, he noted that Ukraine should continue the reform process on its way to the EU despite the war.
