Russia hit Mykolayiv with a ballistic missile in the afternoon, mayor Oleksandr Senkevych has said.
"A loud bang in the city. A ballistic missile. Mykolayiv residents, I'm asking you not to share any photos. I'll give you an update later," the mayor added.
No residential high-rises were damaged, he added later.
Accordig to regional military administration head Vitaliy Kim, one woman was killed, three more women and a man were wounded.
Update at 4.55 p.m. The Defence Forces South reported that the Russian army fired a missile from occupied Crimea.
The missile attack damaged an industrial enterprise. A fire broke out at the site of the attack and was quickly extinguished.
Six workers are currently known to have been injured, and one woman was killed.
