Ukraine needs at least seven Patriot or similar air defence systems for its defence.
This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during his address to the NATO-Ukraine Council on 19 April.
"For defence, we need seven more Patriots or similar air defence systems, and this is the minimum number. They can save many lives and make a real difference. You have such systems," the President said.
Zelenskyy recalled the previously promised one million rounds of ammunition and stressed that "they must finally be delivered to the frontline."
The Head of State stressed that "it is absurd when partners are afraid of their strength" and called for the provision of aircraft.
"The more long-range weapons in the hands of our soldiers, the closer the peace. We really need long-range missiles and artillery on the front line... If we have a coalition of fighter jets, we need a sufficient number of aircraft to really overcome the Russian air force. It is not about the number of promises, but about the real number of aircraft in the sky," Zelenskyy said.
The President stressed that "this year we cannot wait for decisions to be made".
"I ask you to consider our request for your determination as soon as possible - each of its elements. Putin must be brought down to earth, and our skies must become safe again. And this is real. And it depends entirely on your choice. It is a choice whether life is really equally valuable everywhere. It is a choice whether you treat all partners equally. It is a choice whether we are truly allies," Zelenskyy concluded.
