US Secretary of Defence Lloyd Austin arrived in Kyiv on Monday, 21 October. This was reported by the WSJ and announced by Minister Austin himself via X.
"I returned to Ukraine for the fourth time as Secretary of Defence, demonstrating that the United States, along with the international community, continues to support Ukraine," he wrote.
According to the newspaper, the Pentagon chief arrived "with a message of strong US commitment to Ukraine's military efforts, but no new military aid or permission for its forces to use long-range missiles in Russia".
In Kyiv, Austin will meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Defence Minister Rustem Umerov.
Last week, the Biden administration announced its latest military aid package to Ukraine, worth $425 million. It includes air defence equipment, air-to-ground missiles, armoured vehicles and other munitions.
