The SBU and the National Police detained two more agents of Russian special services in Poltava Region who were setting fire to official vehicles of the Defence Forces.
This was reported by the SBU press centre.
During the day, two men ordered by Russian special services burned three SUVs of Ukrainian soldiers in Kremenchuk who had returned to the city after completing combat missions.
‘The suspects were two local students aged 18 and 19, who were looking for ‘easy’ money on Telegram channels. There they were approached by a representative of the Russian Federation, who, with the promise of quick money, attracted the young men to cooperate,’ the statement said.
However, instead of the promised funds from Russia, the suspects were detained by Ukrainian law enforcement.
During the searches, the suspects' mobile phones and incendiary devices were found, which they used in subversive activities in favour of Russia.
According to the investigation, the offenders acted in pairs. To search for military vehicles, they travelled around the region by bus. After identifying potential targets, the defendants first ‘coordinated’ them with a Russian supervisor and then set them on fire.
The defendants recorded all their crimes on the cameras of their own mobile phones and sent ‘reporting’ video files to Russia.
The SBU investigators served them a notice of suspicion under Part 1 Article 114-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (obstruction of the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine).
The criminals are in custody. They face up to 8 years in prison.
