Zheleznyak reports bill submission to Rada to decriminalise porn

According to him, this will happen in the near future.

MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak has announced the submission of a bill to the Verkhovna Rada to decriminalise pornography. He said this in the Adult View programme on LB live. According to him, this should happen in the near future.

Speaking about the high-profile draft law on criminalising the possession of a certain amount of firewood, the MP suggested that the president would not sign it.

"Since they tried to criminalise something, let's decriminalise it. Today, probably tomorrow, we will submit a law on the decriminalisation of porn, agreed with our colleagues. It's really wild that we imprison people for this," the parliamentarian commented.

  • Article 301 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine stipulates that the import, manufacture, sale and distribution of pornographic items is punishable by a fine of fifty to one hundred tax-free minimum incomes, or arrest for up to six months, or restraint of liberty for up to three years. Since 2021, there has been a separate article for pornography involving minors.
  • Last year, Opendatabot reported an increase in the number of criminal cases related to pornographic content, Ekonomichna Pravda reported. A bill to decriminalise porn has already been submitted to the Rada. It did not abolish liability for porn with minors and increased it for the distribution of pornographic content among children. But then the bill did not appear on the Rada's website.
