The Verkhovna Rada has agreed to the resignation of Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin, who has held the post since July 2022.
255 MPs voted in favour, according to a broadcast by MP Oleksiy Honcharenko. Now the president has to sign the decree on his dismissal.
Before entering the Verkhovna Rada on the list of the Servant of the People party, Kostin was a lawyer. In the Verkhovna Rada, he headed the Legal Committee.
Kostin resigned amid a scandal involving corruption in the MSEC and prosecutors who had registered disabilities in order to receive payments.
Kostin has long been named as one of the candidates for the post of ambassador to the Netherlands, where the International Criminal Court is located.
