In an interview with Suspilne, acting CEO of Ukrenergo Oleksiy Brekht said that the company is preparing for several possible scenarios for this winter, which "will be the most difficult in the last three years".

"There are three options, including the worst-case scenario - prolongation of massive shelling of infrastructure, transmission network, generation facilities, and so on," Brekht said.

He reminded that in the spring, due to Russian shelling, Ukraine lost 9 GW of generating capacity, which is equal to the summer electricity consumption of the Netherlands or the nightly electricity consumption of Ukraine in the summer.

According to Brekht, this is a "significant loss", and Ukrenergo has a plan to restore these capacities.

The worst-case scenario for the winter that is being considered is the continuation of Russia's massive attacks on generation facilities.

"Under this scenario, with the volume of electricity imports that we have today, we may have a limitation of electricity output on critical, cold days, up to two rounds of outage schedules, no more. That is, up to 8 hours," Brekht said.
