President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a phone conversation with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. The Chancellor said that the sixth of the planned IRIS-T air defence systems would be delivered to Ukraine by the end of this year.
This was reported by the Office of the President of Ukraine.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked Germany for all the significant military support and its leadership in uniting the efforts of partners to help Ukraine.
The President of Ukraine and the Chancellor of Germany discussed the continuation of defence cooperation. During the conversation, Olaf Scholz informed that the sixth of the planned IRIS-T air defence systems would be delivered to Ukraine by the end of this year.
The parties also discussed the volume of air defence supplies for the next year and possible additional assistance with air defence systems from Germany.
During the conversation, the leaders focused on what other efforts are needed to provide the best possible defence and political support to Ukraine and coordinated joint steps for the near future.
In particular, they agreed that the Ramstein format should be maintained. The next meeting of the coordination group remains important.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy also said that Ukraine's vision of a just and lasting peace should be presented at the G20 meeting in Brazil and thanked Germany for its support.
