Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Heorhiy Tykhyy commented on The Times' report that Ukraine could build a nuclear bomb.
"Ukraine adheres to the NPT (Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons); we do not possess, develop, or intend to acquire nuclear weapons," he wrote.
Tykhyy stressed that Ukraine closely cooperates with the IAEA and is fully transparent for its monitoring. This rules out the use of nuclear materials for military purposes.

Earlier, The Times published an article stating that if Donald Trump cut off US military aid, Ukraine could develop an elementary nuclear bomb using plutonium within a few months.
In the article, The Times refers to an analytical note allegedly prepared for the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine. It states that Ukraine does not have the capacity to build and operate the large facilities required for uranium enrichment. At the same time, it is possible to use plutonium from spent fuel rods from Ukrainian nuclear power plants.
