Today’s car bombing in Sevastopol of Valeriy Trankovskyy, chief of staff of the 41st Brigade of Missile Ships and Boats of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, was a successful SBU special operation, an informed source in the SBU told LB.ua.
As a result of the explosion, the Russian captain’s legs were blown off, and he died of blood loss.
According to the source, Trankovskyy was a war criminal who ordered the launch of cruise missiles from the Black Sea at civilian targets in Ukraine.
In particular, he shelled Vinnytsya with Kalibr missiles in July 2022, which killed 29 civilians. Trankovskyy also repeatedly shelled Odesa and other peaceful cities, killing many civilians. He was an absolutely legitimate target from the point of view of the laws and customs of war, sources say.
Russian websites report that Trankovskyy had been under surveillance for about a week and that the improvised explosive device was detonated remotely.
“It is symbolic that the Russian war criminal, who has the blood of dozens of civilian Ukrainians on his hands, ended his inglorious life on Taras Shevchenko Street in Sevastopol. It is only a matter of time before such atrocities are paid for. No occupier and murderer can feel safe wherever he is,” an SBU source said.
