Ukraine has received a $1.35 billion grant from the United States. The money will be used for priority humanitarian and social programmes. This was announced by Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal and the press service of the Ministry of Finance.
The Head of Government noted that the US government had provided funding through the US Agency for International Development (USAID) in coordination with the Ministry of Finance and the State Department.
"We are grateful to our American partners for this support. Our Government continues to work with our allies to mobilise the necessary financial resources this year and next year," commented Shmyhal.
Later, the Ministry of Finance explained that the funding raised will be used, in particular, to ensure the payment of salaries to teachers.
Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko noted that direct budget support from the United States since February 2022 has reached USD 28.2 billion.
"This is the largest financial assistance to Ukraine among all countries in the world. A reliable partnership with the United States helps the Government of Ukraine maintain financial stability and support its citizens by providing essential public services such as education and emergency services," Marchenko commented.
This year, budget support from the United States is envisaged in the amount of USD 7.8 billion, of which USD 5.2 billion has already been mobilised.
