Germany has announced a new military aid package for Ukraine. The list of aid includes IRIS-T and Patriot air defence systems, Leopard tanks and ammunition, and more.
This is stated on the website of the German Ministry of Defence.
Funding for military assistance, in particular, consists of two parts: funds from a federal government initiative used to finance the supply of weapons and weapons from Bundeswehr warehouses. In total, Germany has provided military assistance to Ukraine in the amount of about €28 billion.
The new aid package includes:
- 15 Leopard 1 A5 tanks;
- 2 Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft systems with spare parts;
- 30 MRAP armoured vehicles with mine protection;
- PzH 2000 self-propelled howitzer;
- 12 armoured vehicles with kinetic defence systems;
- 7 Caracal airborne jeeps;
- IRIS-T SLM anti-aircraft missile system with missiles;
- IRIS-T SLS air defence missile system;
- 2 Patriot launchers;
- 2 TRML-4D radars;
- ammunition for Leopard 1 and Leopard 2 tanks;
- 30 Vector drones, 24 RQ-35 Heidrun drones, 14 Hornet XR drones;
- 5 AMPS helicopter self-defence systems;
- 45 diving scooters;
- 12 Zetros trucks and 8 Zetros fuel tankers;
- 120 GMW grenade launchers,
- 200 MG4 machine guns,
- 420 MK 556 rifles,
- 80 HLR 338 sniper rifles,
- 100 CR 308 rifles;
- 52,000 rounds of 155 mm ammunition,
- AIM-9L/I-1 Sidewinde guided missiles;
- 65,000 rounds of ammunition for Gepard systems.
In addition, the aid package included mine clearance equipment and small arms ammunition.
In early December, Chancellor Olaf Scholz confirmed that Germany would transfer the 6th IRIS-T air defence system and Patriot launchers by the end of the year. This was confirmed the day before by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
