Kursk operation, cooperation with Syria: Zelenskyy holds Supreme C’n’C staff meeting

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held the Supreme C’n’C staff meeting on the situation at the frontline, particularly in the Kursk sector. They also discussed cooperation with Syria after the fall of the Assad regime.

‘I held the Supreme C’n’C staff meeting. We worked out in detail the work with Syria after the fall of Assad and his escape. The intelligence agencies - the Foreign Intelligence Service and the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine - and the Ministers of Defence and Foreign Affairs of Ukraine reported today. We are determining our strategy and concrete steps. Ukraine is interested in stabilising the situation in Syria and the region as a whole and will support the necessary efforts of its partners. We believe that it is fundamental for the security of the people of Syria and the region as a whole to remove any Russian presence from Syria,’ President Zelenskyy said.

The President stressed that Kyiv is ready to work with representatives of the Syrian people to correct the mistakes of the Assad regime, in particular, with regard to Ukraine and the whole of Europe.

The Head of State also listened to a report by Commander-in-Chief Syrskyy on the frontline and areas of the Kursk operation.

‘There are risks of sending more soldiers and military equipment to the Russian army from North Korea, and we will have a tangible response to this. Now, according to preliminary data, the number of killed and wounded North Korean soldiers in the Kursk region exceeds 3,000 people,’ the President said.

‘It is important for the world to understand that the risk of destabilisation around the Korean Peninsula and in neighbouring regions and waters is increasing in proportion to the growth of cooperation between Moscow and Pyongyang. The transfer of modern warfare experience and the spread of military technology from Russia is a global threat. For the world, the price of restoring stability is always much higher than the price of effective pressure on those who destabilise the situation and destroy lives,’ the Head of State emphasised.
