The first unit of the Ukrainian Legion, which is being formed in Poland, has already left for Ukraine.

This was announced by Ambassador of Ukraine to Poland Vasyl Bodnar, Radio Svoboda reports.

The military will continue training in Ukraine. Then, on 10 January 2025, the next volunteers will sign contracts with the Armed Forces and go to a training ground in Poland for training.

‘The process, of course, we would like it to go faster, but it goes as it goes. We are working to make this information publicly available in all EU countries, and possibly overseas. We can only provide incentives through voluntary encouragement, and this is a completely voluntary unit. Our citizens who join it, I am convinced, will have the appropriate satisfaction of good training,’ the ambassador said.

He added that the training of the first volunteer legionnaires will continue at Ukrainian training grounds. Bodnar did not name their number.
