Russia carries out massive drone attack on Ukraine: 104 UAVs deployed

On 27 January, Russia carried out a massive drone assault on Ukraine, deploying 104 Shahed-type attack drones and various decoy drones from multiple locations, including Orel, Kursk, Millerovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk (Russia), and Cape Chauda (Crimea).

The Ukrainian Air Force confirmed that 57 Shahed UAVs and other drones were shot down in Kyiv, Mykolayiv, Kharkiv, Poltava, Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, Khmelnytskyy, Zhytomyr, Vinnytsya, and Ivano-Frankivsk Regions. An additional 39 decoy drones failed to reach their targets without causing damage.

Despite this, Dnipropetrovsk, Sumy, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Kyiv Regions reported damage to infrastructure facilities, residential buildings, and private homes. Preliminary reports suggest no casualties, although some victims are receiving treatment.

The air defence operation involved aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare teams, and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Air Force and Defence Forces. Efforts to address the aftermath of the attack are ongoing.
