Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau does not rule out the participation of Canadian troops in the deployment of a foreign contingent in Ukraine as part of security guarantees.

He said this at a press conference following the summit in London, Interfax-Ukraine reports.

"At every step of the way, Canada has been looking for ways to help, and as I said a few days ago, everything is on the table. We know that the Canadian military can make a contribution. We're not going to get ahead of the discussion about how to keep the peace that doesn't exist yet, but Canada will be there and ready to do whatever is necessary... But these will be decisions that will be made in the coming years by Canadians and their government," Trudeau said.

He stressed that Canada has been one of the strongest countries supporting Ukraine "from the very beginning, for more than 10 years". In particular, over the years, Canada has trained about 40,000 Ukrainian military personnel. Canada has also invested about $20 billion in support of Ukraine, military, economic and otherwise.

"And we will continue to support Ukraine as needed, by all means possible, and for as long as it takes... Ukraine is not just defending its territory, it is defending the same principles and values that underpin all of our democracies. So as we look at what will be required in the coming years, I can assure you that Canada and Canadians will be there for you," Trudeau added.
