After meeting with Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Donald Trump said that the Ukrainian president was not ready for peace.
Trump's post appeared on his social media account.
The US leader noted that he had ‘determined that President Zelenskyy is not ready for peace if America is involved, because he feels that our involvement gives him a great advantage in the negotiations’.
‘I don't want an advantage, I want peace. He disrespected the United States of America in their cherished Oval Office. He can return when he is ready for peace,’ Trump wrote.
Later, the White House announced that the press conference between Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Donald Trump had been cancelled.
- This post was preceded by a meeting between the two leaders in the Oval Office, which ended in a verbal altercation. Trump insisted on signing the agreement, again billed Ukraine for $350 billion in aid and demanded a ceasefire. Zelenskyy, on the other hand, said that negotiations with Russia might not lead to the expected results, as the aggressor country had repeatedly violated previous agreements.
