Security guarantees were a key focus at the Coalition of the willing meeting in Paris. Future security guarantees are being shaped within this coalition, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated at a press conference following the meeting.

“All participants – 31 countries and organisations – agreed that lifting any sanctions against Russia before the war ends would not be a fair peace. This is an important, unified signal,” the President of Ukraine said.

“The message is united across Europe, not just within the EU. The second key point is new support packages, which some European countries have confirmed. Overall, the vision is to support the growth of Ukraine’s domestic production and investment in it. I see this as a very positive step. We have also agreed to work on security infrastructure in the coming days,” he added.

To advance this effort, representatives from some partner countries will visit Ukraine.

Meeting of the Coalition of the willing

Today in Paris, representatives from 31 countries, NATO Secretary General, and the heads of the European Council and European Commission gathered as part of the Coalition of the Willing. They agreed to continue their efforts in the coming days.

The goal is to establish real security guarantees for Ukraine that will prevent a future attack once a ceasefire is in place.

Following the meeting, Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Ukraine is inviting delegates from all interested countries to collaboratively develop a single, clear plan that all parties can agree on. This plan should outline which countries will be responsible for security on land, at sea, and in the air.
