Ukrainian special operations forces in the Kursk Region of Russia destroyed a DPRK platoon in close combat.
“The soldiers of the 6th Ranger Regiment of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine conducted special operations against North Korean regular troops in the Kursk Region of Russia. During a quick contact, the operators of the Special Operations Forces killed 25 North Koreans,” the telegram from the Special Operations Forces said.
They stressed that these events took place last month, but due to operational security, it is only now possible to talk about it and show the video from the drone and body cameras of the SSO soldiers.
Eight rangers in an armoured Humvee moved behind enemy lines, and – with the support of reconnaissance drones – came within striking distance and took up favourable firing positions in the trenches.
The SSO operators started a close combat engagement against a 25-man platoon – three times their number – and retained the initiative until the end.
“Despite the numerical superiority of the enemy and enemy artillery fire, the SSO soldiers proved the superiority of quality over quantity and did not leave the entire DPRK platoon a chance during the contact,” the Ukrainian military said.
The ranger group later withdrew after successfully completing the task.
- According to the Centre for Countering Disinformation, Russia plans to use the DPRK military to wage war in the temporarily occupied part of Ukraine.
- In late February, South Korean intelligence reported that the DPRK had sent additional troops to the Kursk Region of Russia to fight a war with Ukraine.
