The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine has started working on lists of prisoners to be returned to their homeland in a potential 1000-for-1000 exchange.

This was stated by Deputy Chief of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine Vadym Skibitskyy during a briefing following the talks in Istanbul, Ukrinform reports

‘The Russian side agreed to exchange a thousand people. In the near future, starting today, we are working on the lists of those who will be returned to their homeland. We have normal experience of working with the Russian side,’ Skibitskyy said.

The deputy head of the Ministry of Defence reminded that the bodies of the fallen soldiers were returned today and reiterated that Ukraine will ‘do everything to ensure that every citizen returns home’.

  • The Ukrainian defence minister said that two main issues were discussed during the talks between Ukraine and Russia: the exchange of prisoners in the format of 1,000 for 1,000 and the ceasefire, the head of the delegation said.
