The executions of Ukrainian prisoners of war by the Russians are more than just barbaric war crimes. They have become systematic, indicating a policy approved by the top leadership of the Russian Federation.
This was stated by the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Heorhiy Tykhyy, on the X network.
"Russian executions of Ukrainian prisoners of war who surrendered are more than just barbaric war crimes. They have become systematic, indicating a policy approved by Russia's top leadership. In fact, any army would prefer to see the enemy surrender in greater numbers. Such executions can only have the opposite effect. By acting contrary to even basic military logic, the Russians are showing that they are a bunch of sadists and degenerates, from the top leadership to the rank and file," Tykhyy writes.
The spokesperson emphasises that each such case must be investigated and all perpetrators brought to justice.
"Every bastard who pulls the trigger must know that justice will be done. We call for full international accountability for both the torturers and their patrons, up to and including the Kremlin," Tykhyy said.
- Earlier, CNN published intercepted radio conversations and drone footage confirming that Russia is likely ordering its soldiers to kill Ukrainian soldiers who surrender.
