On 3 June, Defence Minister Rustem Umerov explained recent personnel decisions in the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
According to the minister, these decisions were made jointly with Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the military leadership.
Umerov noted that Mykhaylo Drapatyy has been appointed Commander of the Joint Forces.
“After long discussions, it was decided that he would focus exclusively on combat issues in order to fully deal with the frontline. Another person will soon be appointed in the Land Forces to focus exclusively on the generation of our forces – recruitment, mobilisation, training and the introduction of new approaches in these processes to ensure the quality of training of soldiers,” the Defence Minister explained.
Oleh Apostol has been appointed Commander of the Air Assault Forces, while Ihor Skybyuk has been appointed Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, the minister reminded.
Robert Brovdi (Madyar) has been appointed the new Commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces.
“His experience with one of the best brigades should be scaled up to the entire command,” commented Umerov.
Vadym Sukharevskyy has been appointed Deputy Commander of the East operational command. According to the minister, Sukharevskyi is now tasked with “modernising this command by introducing new approaches and changes”.
- On 3 June, Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed several decrees dismissing a number of individuals in the command. In particular, Oleksandr Bilous was dismissed from the post of Deputy Commander of the National Guard, Drapatyy was dismissed from the post of Commander of the Land Forces, Skybyuk was dismissed from the post of Commander of the Air Assault Forces, and Sukharevskyy was dismissed from the post of Commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces.
- In other decrees, the President appointed Drapatyy as Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces, Apostol as Commander of the Air Assault Forces, and Brovdi as Commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces.
