Japanese virtuoso pianist Yusuke Ishii will give a solo performance as part of the Dzerkalo Festival in Lviv. The musician will perform on 6 August. This was announced by the Lviv National Opera on its Facebook page. A graduate of the Paris Conservatory and a scholarship holder of the Ensemble Modern International Academy in Frankfurt, Ishii is known as a virtuoso interpreter of contemporary repertoire at leading European festivals. The programme features a conditional dialogue between the generations of the 20th century: from the mystical preludes of Čiurlionis and the transparent études of Debussy to the expressive Sonata No. 2 by Valentin Silvestrov, which foreshadows his later style.
The central event of the evening is Pierre Boulez's Sonata No. 1: a complex, mathematically precise construction that challenges both the performer and the listener.
The event will take place in the Mirror Hall of the Lviv National Opera. Dzerkalo Festival 2025 has become a space where leading Ukrainian ensembles and performers from Japan, Lithuania, Germany and the USA meet.
During the festival, nine musical evenings await listeners: from 30 July to 10 August.
